Club Information

Todd Heiman welcomed the Club at the Grand Ely Lodge, as well as those attending on Zoom.

We discussed the need for auction items to be submitted quickly, especially if we want to include some of them on the online auction site. Please solicit donations for your list and remember to place posters out at locations around town.

Guest for Today:

Our guest for today, via Zoom, is Chief Meteorologist Dave Anderson of CBS channel 3 in Duluth. Dave is an Ely native who moved to Duluth after VCC to complete a degree at UMD in Communications, but eventually received his meteorological degree from Mississippi State when he needed that for his promotion at the local affiliate.

Dave gave us lots of weather background and facts and asked us to be mindful that between the alarmists and the deniers about climate change that the real answer is somewhere in the middle. He warned of those with little technical knowledge commenting about the topic - the answers should come from the professionals.

Along the way he gave us many humorous stories about growing up in Ely, adventures with Andy Levar, and his award winning recycling program for the old KBJR station recycling program, signed by none other than Kurt Soderberg.

We all enjoyed his humor, his down to earth manner, and the facts that he gave regarding climate, weather, and the simple steps we all can take to help the planet - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Thanks Dave for a great presentation.
